What is the best way to get quality video from the EX1 on Vimeo?

My options are Vegas and Premier pro.

Thanks

Render to 1280x720 mp4 files.

I use Eugenia's settings for Vegas and think the results look great:

Their compression specs work for me.

What I find unusual is the keyframe rate (very frequent at 1 every 30 frames).

The Vimeo specs work well. H264 is definitely the way to go.

24p or 60i deinterlaced?

Is there a complete question attached to this?

Vimeo plays 720p24. They were 720p30 for a brief time but claimed to many people didn't have the bandwidth/decode ability for that.

"Frame rate
This is usually 30, in Europe it's usually 25. If there is an option that says “current” just go with that. Please note that Vimeo converts all HD videos up to 24 frames per second for optimum playback performance."

The question is, is it better to shoot your source footage in 60i deinterlaced, or 24p since they are going to convert it to that anyway? What has worked best for you? My vimeo looks like stuttery crap in both, but I've seen some footage that looks fairly smooth.

There is no such thing. The "i" in 60i means interlaced.

You can shoot 30p, 60p (if you have a very expensive camera), or 24p. Since Vimeo uses 24p natively, you'd probably do best to shoot at that frame rate for best results.

I usually shoot 1080p30. 30p does not convert well to 24p IMHO. Yes I think my stuff looks like stuttery &*#! too sometimes. I've given Vimeo and earful on this and don't buy that 720p30 is that much harder for viewer to handle. They claim many viewers were complaining. My primary purpose for shooting is not Vimeo though. I do hope they move back to 30p. BTW 60i should handle the conversion to 24p much better than 30p but I generally don't shoot interlace.

Thanks for all the help. I was able to use Vegas h264 and upload it to Vimeo. It did not work and had to email them the link to the video. Within an hour it was working.

The video is not that great. Decided at the spur of the moment to put the EX1 out since I had not used the time lapse recording much. I was amazed that I could see the moon so well in the viewfinder and could barely see it with my naked eye. The weather was sub zero in 2 feet of snow, with numb fingers the focus is poor.
