FFV.com has a unit that can record HD-SDI in 720P and 1080i with a removable SATA drive!
So it could be used on the HD-250 series as it can use the HD-SDI and time-code.
It records into JPEG2000 Motion codec 100Mbit/Sec

Has anyone experience with this unit (quality-robustness), and what does it cost?

It has been "in the pipeline" for a while now, I believe before NAB. However they seem to be ready to introduce it at IBC (11-16 September). Haven't heard about pricing.

also is jpeg2000 supported by fcp ?

not yet in realtime i think, but jpeg 2000 is part of the quicktime codecs available.
It would be icing on the cake if that codec also conformed to DCI spec of the jpeg 2000
used for digital cinema exhibition.
