Could someone tell me if the Batteries from a XL1S fit and work the XL H1 ?

Yes.

Do you have BP-945's? If so, they should work fine.

All of the batteries that fit the XL1s should work fine.

The larger capacity ones work better, but do not expect as much endurance as the Canon BP-950g's and BP-970g batteries.

You can try out your batteries, it will not harm anything.

Please note that the battery gauge on the XL H1 works better. So do not be alarmed if the battery gauge starts to go down after a while. It is just giving you a much better indication of the remaining battery life than the Xl1s battery gauge ever did.
