hd110 shooting sd 16x9?

i may have access to a friend's jvc hd110.

a client of mine needs 16x9 sd footage.

can the hd110 shoot 16x9 sd footage in-camera or is a down-rezzing in post production necessary?

how is the quality of the sd 16x9 footage?

thanks in advance for any and all thoughts.

be well

rob

hey rob!
All the pro-Hd's have a native 16:9 chip, and do great SD anamorphic widescreen to the DV codec (60i or 24p or 30p). So you can get the DVX-100 look on a universally editable DV tape no problem. It looks great, with the caveats that OEM color setups are not ideal (use recipes that can be found here), and that lw light thresholds come in quite a bit sooner.

However, shooting/editing HD and downrezzing for final delivery/output (dvd?, broadcast?) will be even better, although there is more effort involved.

There is also the unusual SD 60p (or 50p) with mpeg2 codec on the 100 but that you'll have to be on top of in post. Overcranking look is the main reason for it.
