Many people on this forum have reported problems in Vegas with m2t captures from HDVSplit. This is particularly troublesome for those shooting in HDV frame modes with some canon cameras (eg. HV20?), where the Vegas capture tool seems to be inadequate.

As previously reported on this forum, Sony has a new m2t i/o plugin in user testing, I was scrolling through the testing thread on the sony forum (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=602126&Replies=88) and saw a user report indicating that their HDVSplit files were now working with the new plugin.

View the thread - download the dll - save the old dll - install the new one - check it out with your HDVSplit captures. Report your results on the testing thread at sony.

This plug is for m2t in Vegas 8 Pro only.

Yes, I installed the new plug-in and tested with over 100 scenes from an HDV tape (60i). HDVsplit captured clips played perfectly in Vegas 8b. Others testing the plug-in have all reported good results.

Just tried this yesterday and it seems to work fine. The whole timeline is also much more responsive now. Looks like Sony are on track.

Look for a moderator post in the middle of the testing thread (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=602126&Replies=88) that contains the download links. This plugin is in beta/user testing and is not part of current product downloads.

For anyone who wishes to test this, I would first recommend you're on 8.0b instead of an older version of 8 and then look for the "ForumAdmin" posts. As was mentioned, there is login information to an FTP site where the test file can be downloaded. Just go to that FTP site, download the file, and test away.

Note, some using Vegas 7 have tested the file and it DOES NOT WORK with older versions.

Thanks for the heads up, Seth! Hopefully this will fix the problems I have.
