Question 1. Can someone tell me what the "windscreen" option in the menu of the XLH1 actually does? Does it remove certain low frequencies associated with wind? Is it akin to "digital zoom"? Sounds sort of hokey.

Question 2. Are the actual specs of the standard mic available somewhere? I'd like to compare it to the Senheiser M66, but can't find any numbers.

Thanks for any info.

I'm pretty sure that the "windscreen" is a low-cut filter (probably around 80 or 90Hz). Not really hokey at all, but not a true substitute for a dead-cat or other wind-blocking device. When your mic is buffeted by high winds, it won't be able to pick up more subtle sounds (regardless of the filter setting).

It's a frequency roll off.

I have no idea about the specs. You'll definitely want to go with the Sennheiser if you need on-camera sound to be off the highest quality.
