Hello,

I have a question. Can I use the glidecam smooth shooter and 4000 pro
with the upcoming canon XL-H1a?
Does is work just fine or is this setting not recommended or maybe too close to the maximum weight that is been recommended for the glidecam 4000? So maybe its works but is not recommended?
And if it works, are there any references from peoplewho has this setting (maybe with the XL-H1).

I'm still concidering buying the the glidecam smooth shooter with 4000 pro
or the indicam pilot.

Any comments are welcome.

Rob,

With the Glidecam 4000 you would need to use more bottom weights and/or lower the extension post to achieve a good drop-time balance.

Glidecam owners-do they give you any extra weights for balancing heavier cameras?

The XL-H1a shows it weighs 8.3 lb (3.7 kg) with lens and battery but I would make sure I used the larger battery so the weight should be just a bit heavier.

Glidecam info (B&H Photo) shows that the Smooth Shooter (single arm) and the X10 (dual arm) can take cameras up to 10 pounds so you should be in that range.

I won't comment on our system because this post is about Glidecam.

Hope this helps.

Yes, you get a bunch of weights, 20 of them, I think! I have 8 weights, total, on my Glidecam 4000 with XH-A1. You can buy more too, though I doubt you'll need to... that's a ton of weight (well, not really! <grin>)

Terry,

Can you tell me some more about the indicam in combinations with the XL-H1a (or XL-H1)?
Are there people that can tell there experiences with this setup?

Best Regards

Rob

I answered this question via personal email to keep this thread about Glidecam. Don't want to change the subject of a thread.
