Trying to create a WMV in Episode, out of FCP - have always done this no probs from DV sequences: make QT ref movie, import to Episode, use tweaked WMV preset. But with XDCAM EX 720/25 source sequence, even if I put it into a DV sequence, am getting same result in the Episode transcode - audio but no video. The QT ref movie out of FCP plays fine.
Anyone got any tips or a workflow that works? Client waiting on the WMV tomorrow!

When you create the ref file, do you export it to another codec? If not, then try something different. Perhaps, proress, DV or uncompressed then it should work. When you get audio only from a transcode it is usually because it doesn't understand the source.

Cheers - yes, have tried exporting it to DV but same result; have just TimeMachined to revert QT back to 7.4.5 (as it updated today to 7.5 and thought maybe Episode couldn't handle that) - but no luck yet..

Hmm - seems the issue is with my Flip4Mac wmv player - the wmv files play ok in Microsoft WMV player, and on PC...

Mark can you post all the details
CPU and versions of OS, QT, Episode, Flip4Mac?
Apple changed things with Quicktime 7.5. If that's what you have you'll have to go to Flip4Mac PrefPane Player tab and make sure "Open local files immediately" is enabled or you may get no video.

Mac Pro 3.00 GHz Quad Xeon 8gb, FCP, OS, QT, Episode, Flip4Mac are always updated. Will try your suggestion and report - cheers

Craig - that was the problem - cheers!
So for others' info, an XDCAM EX seq exported as a ref movie from FCP is fine for transcoding to WMV in Episode.
