Mexico and Salsa music doesn't have that much in common. I will try not to use Salsa unless that's what they want. Try to find something more mexican...sorry I can help you with that one... rancheras, qebradita..something like that. Only name comes to mind is Pedro Infante...but that's old...don't know...

I just shot a reception that had a live mariachi band. That was cool. I'm sure there are bands that will allow you to use their music for credit.

People outisde Mexico tend to relate flamenco / salsa / bachata / etc with Mexican people and festivities. Blame Hollywood for that.

If you want something nice and old, why don´t you use music from a trio? Search for "Sin ti" "tres regalos" and "novia mia" performed by "Los panchos". If you need something newer try "entra en mi vida" and "kilometros" by "Sin bandera".

Thanks Alex, you are right on. there's nothing more off than falmenco with mexico in the background. Different cultures, different feelings.

I would recommend artists like K-paz de la Sierra or El Recodo. Or even Kumbia Kings, which is for a younger hipper Mexican crowd.

BTW, every time I see a movie where they have flamenco or Salsa music playing to a Mexican scene I just have to laugh 'cause nothing could be more unrelated. Flamenco music is Spanish Gypsy music, and salsa is caribbean (Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, etc.)
