Hey I am starting a student run videography company with a few friends, we have a very small budget and are trying to get the best bang for our buck. we are planning on running three camera shoots, and were wondering what brand or cameras we should purchase we were looking for the best quality, and easiest cameras to upgrade after we start making money, our budget now is about $2,000 per camera, any suggestions?

For 2000 a camera?

I say stick with your standard Panasonic AG-HPX500....

Just kidding. Look for used Panny DVX100's

I have had 3 Canon GL2's for several years now and they've been pretty much rock solid.

we are also into making short films? Would the GL2 be good in that aspect as well?

I know that lots and lots of short films have been made with the GL2, but I haven't done a project like that personally so I can't say for sure. What features do you need in a camera for a short film?

Get a dvx100, you can find them on the web for around 1600 and use the rest for a good tripod.
