I've tried it. The included programs for video editing are , in my opinion, more like windows movie maker than anything professionals would use.

Perhaps it was a lack of patience on my part, but I really wasn't impressed.

I always have been interested in Linux editing capabilities, in the past they also had Cinelerra as videoeditor but the problem was I never got it to work. That's my main problem with anything that linux related, you almost need a rocket science degree to make it work.

Beside the fact that they have good image and audio software I have my doubts if there ever will be a decent videoeditor for Linux, but hey, it's free, so why complain. :)

It is not cheap.

I'd love to be able to ditch windows or osx in favor of a linux prog that actually works decent.

I saw the Ubuntu web pages some time ago and it looked like they had some cool stuff going. Oddly enough, it was the editing module itself, that seemed to be very limited, pretty lame trimming functions, etc.

It occurs to me that much like Blender 3D, which is a freeware 3d program that has grown into quite a nice 'pro' package, Ubuntu could grow into something real nice, with time and community support. So Marco, if you have a little time to invest, maybe you help Ubuntu 'grow up'. You know, as a side project, from time to time...

Or not.
