I am thinking about purchasing a Sachtler combo of the DV6 head and the cf 75 tripod for my EX1+Letus Extreme. Right now the EX1+Letus+my "heaviest" Nikkor are about 6kg (=12lb). Sachtler writes on it's german page about the DV6, the head is is made for 1-9kg (=2-18lb) I am wondering if the DV6 would be my head to go or if I should take the DV8 ? What if I am going to buy a matte box and follow focus and even perhaps an LCD monitor in future - would the DV6 still be a good choice?

An about the cf 75 tripod: Is it really worth the price difference ?
I heard the usual tripod could be a little "weak"

best regards

I have a DV 8 that is about 6 years old. It seems to be the same as the current DV6s. It works great with the combo. Two years ago I replaced the failing original legs with the 75s, and they are light and easier to adjust. They have loosened a couple times which is scary but I know to check the bolts frequently. Sachtler makes the best heads in my opinion.

Thank you Benjamin! Did you have any problems with heavy load? Could be that I will reach 8-9 kg (with more extra stuff for the cam) soon... that's why I am thinking about taking a DV8 instead of a DV6...

Mine is an 8, and it may be beefier than the current 6 (although they look they same). Used it with EX-1 and Brevis and Letus and JVCHD100 with Brevis, so fairly big loads.

Today I got the DV6 with CF legs. They are great! Just one snapper for each leg, very easy and fast to use and the DV6 head is top! 75mm is smaller than I expected, but for the EX1+Letus+extras the set is absolutely a good choice and you can "feel" the quality in every part!
