Is there a way to determine what specific codec vdub is using to open a video clip. I have an hdv clip that opened without issue on my xp machine and gives me a green screen on my vista machine. The xp is older so I figured that if I can locate the right codec and install it on the vista 32bit machine it might play in vdub.

In VDub, after opening the file, go to File > File Information and look in "Decompressor".

The "file info" option does not give the Decompressor info, it give I-Frame, P-frame, frame size, aspect ratio and the like.

It's right there, see attached - unless you're using some old version.

I'm using vdubmod 1.5.1. I get the same no decompressor issue using hdv and mpeg. When the mpeg video finishes parsing out then the footage loads. I go to file and then fine info. It give me most of the info as in your image below but the decompressor info is missing. It is present when I load an avi file though. Maybe I'm asking the wrong question. So let me ask which codedc for vista and xp allows vdubmod to open HDV and mpegt files?
