"You may see primary colors shimmering in the viewfinder when you move your eye line. This is not a malfunction."

So what the h#$% is it? Drives me nuts!

Cool camera though :)

Just back from a Sony seminar here in Bali. One of the EX1 designers was there and I showed him this RGB color flash in the viewfinder. He wasn't sure what it was either but will ask engineering.

Is anyone else seeing this on the Z7 either in PAL or NTSC?

I actually saw beige ghost scan lines flowing up the LCD, about three bars flowing up sort of like an old TV out of tune. It was hard to notice unless I was shooting a light solid color. Hopefully it was the LCD and not recorded onto the source....

I used a colleague's Z7 a couple of weeks ago, and noticed the same thing: R G and B ghost lines from the viewfinder's info display if you dart your eyes about.

Not fold-out LCD panel, just the viewfinder.

I guessed it was due to a 'cheat' method to get better resolution from the LCD or getting a better refresh rate by 'interlacing' R, G and B signals. It looked like an engineering trade-off.

Something one has to 'tolerate', rather than accept IMHO.
