View Full Version : After effects won't play from Premiere Pro timeline

I created a 1 minute comp in AE CS3 using a HDV 1080 29.97 preset and rendered it out as an uncompressed .AVI file.

I then imported it into a Premiere CS3 project which has a Cineform HDV 1080i preset. When placed on the timeline, I can drag the CTI and show the AE clip, but pressing the spacebar only gives a black screen with a small red x in the upper left hand corner. The sound plays ok although I added that in Premiere.
The clip plays fine in Windows media player 11.

I increased the playback control to maximum with no help.

I captured several clips using HDlink converting them to .AVI and they all play nicely on the monitor from the timeline.

The computer is a quad core with 4 gigs of ram, but only using xp pro 32.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We don't support uncompressed file playback, mainly because CineForm is the answer to uncompressed. From AE you can render directly to a CineForm file, in 10/12-bit if you have Propect/NEO HD/4K.

David,
Thanks. THat fixed it. I remember reading a FAQ a while back about how to create compatible After effects renders, but I couldn't find it. Is there something like that around within easy reach.
