With all due respect, you should really stick with simple cuts and dissolves for most of your work. A lot of those ''cool" effects are considered to be cheesy when overused.

I agree. But as cheesy and overused as they are, they look sweet at full rez and full quality. I've always been a FCP editor but just got Vegas 8 and intentionally went overboard just to check out the various effects of the transitions.

But again, I agree with you on that. Thanks.

every editor tends to keep the interesting transitions down to major changes in a piece. I've found if you do that the effect is more interesting and pleasing. I guess the hard part is figuring out when's a good time and which effect is effective (no pun intended.)

Vegas has some interesting transitions!

Sony definitely spent time on developing those transitions. At first I ignored them but when I explored them and saw how they worked and how you could change just about everything in them from how many divisions, how many turns, specular light color, percent of opacity, etc., it was interesting to use them in this demo. Although the finished product is being edited in FCP, it was an easy flow from Vegas to Blu-Ray.
