Hey,

I have been in the look for a good working wide-angle objective for my XL2. The 3x seems very good but I wonder if there is other good(!) choices?

Since I work with a tripod mostly and the Canon 16x manual, wouldn't it work with at zoom through wide-angle lens on top the 16x? Speaking image quality would it suffer compared with a Canon 3x? And for comparing prices, a good wide-angle lens (ex 16x1 inc) is at the ~same price as the 3x lens.

Also when I was reading the XL2 watchdog (http://dvinfo.net/canonxl2/articles/article04.php) the Fujinon 12x sounds really promising. But I haven't heard any using it on a XL body, or do some one know?

Anyhow I would appreciate any recommendation, and especially on the Fujinon 12x.

Regards,
David

Nothing is going to be better than the Canon 3x.

The proposed Fuji 12x conversion was just a crazy idea I had one day. Nothing ever happened with it as far as I know. Besides the XL 3x WA lens, you might consider a Schneider / Century Optics WA adapter with full zoom-through capability although it will increase the front-end weight of the camera significantly.

Here is a list of what we offer for the XL2:

I would recommend the .6x if partial zooming is okay because it is lighter weight. The .7x is a quality optic enabling full zoom through but does increase the weight quite a bit as Chris says.
