In the manual it states not to use a cable length of more than 3 meters attached to the camera, any reason for this and is there a work round to this problem.
If you were to hook it up to a PA system, do the same restrictions apply?
Any help much appriciated...thank you

It's not a problem to use longer cables. I have no idea why that line is in the manual; just ignore it.

Bill, it's there to cover themselves in case of folk using crappy bell wire or similar. Cheers.

I routinely use xlr audio cable of 300 feet at mic level, when running from camera to satellite truck. For 600 feet I use a preamp mixer and boost to line level.

Yeah, you can run long distances with the quad cable. Not so much with el cheapo stuff--maybe 100' max.
I hate soldering quad cable though...
