So I am wanting to connect my EX1 to my computer's 1394 port. The EX1's 1394 option on the others menu is greyed. I know it must be simple to fix. Thanks in advance.

Charles, From the Menu Button navigate to the Others Menu, then to Video Format. Select a SP 1440 1080 Format, and you are done. You will find the 1394 selection now available (On in SP only)

I'm three months down the track with my EX1, at this stage I'm not even able to output a finished DVD of reasonable quality. Disappointing to say the least.

Yup SP was the problem.
