Need to make 30 video CDs for client. Haven't made one before, only DVDs.

I see that they can be burned directly from Vegas timeline. Is that best way?

I'd burn the first one from Vegas and then just copy it using your CD/DVD burning app.

In this day and age of BluRay and multi-terabyte hard drives, why would anyone still use VCD? :-(

Wow, it's been a while. VCDs are still very popular in the middle east and asia.

They play in all DVD players, about the quality of VHS.

From the Vegas timeline is fine. You can fine-tune your compress more quickly by doing a render-as to the following spec. There are no menus - just one MPEG1 file with embedded audio that fits on the CD that meets the following spec:

MPEG1
352x240
1,150Kbps constant bitrate
Audio Codec: MPEG-1 Audio Layer II
44.1 kHz stereo
224 kilobits per second constant bitrate

I think you're at just under 80 minutes max for an 80 minute CD at the above spec.

Thanks for the specs, Seth!

Good question, Mike. Actually these CDs are being distributed as promotional videos to be watched by hospital administrators in their offices.

Appreciate the feedback from both of you.
