Anyone know what the proper settings are in terms of color/contrast/brightness for calibrating the EX1 LCD?

Ian Briscoe March 31st, 2008, 09:12 AM Not sure if you could calibrate it properly as such. You would probably need to adjust it again anyway based on the light hitting it so you could see it properly. I have a reasonably well calibrated monitor so I adjusted the LCD to be as close to the monitor as possible - that's about as close as I think I need. You could switch bars on, adjust brightness and colour all the way down - bring brightness back up to a level which gives you a good black and white picture then bring the colour back till it looks 'right'. There's plenty of info on the internet on using colour bars with a blue filter to get things right - but IMHO that's a bit overkill for an LCD. Ian Sean Donnelly March 31st, 2008, 01:55 PM I had the same thought, but it isn't worth it. The color/tone accurate viewing angle is so narrow any calibration is useless past 5 degrees in any direction. You can set the brightness/contrast to the in-camera color bars, then go with the histogram/zebra/brightness indicator combined to evaluate the image for exposure, etc. -Sean |
