How many people turn on the quick record function of their Z1 when shooting in HD?
It does take about 3 seconds to start recording when it is turned of but is there any down sights to turning the function on?
Thanks in advance

As mentioned in the manual, turning it on can lead to timecode breaks on the tape.
I have experience trying it on two Z1s. The first one, no timecode breaks at all. I was very happy with it. Unfortunately, the Z1 that I ended up buying is not so lucky. When I enable it, I get breaks on the tape, which screws up my editing workflow, so I turned it off.
I would suggest trying it and see it you have the problem or not.

Thanks, I could try it out about the house and see if I get the time code issues.
Does it speed up the start record?

Does it speed up the start record?
It sure does. That's why I was disappointed that my camera would give me the breaks...
A useful tip, perhaps, is to quickly push record twice when you know you want to start shooting soon. The camera will come out of standby and be ready to go when you actually want to record for real.

Yes I have had that happen me as well loads of times.
Once you start recording though it gived you no breaks in the time code, its just at the start record it could break, isn't this right.
Say for example a wedding ceremony if both cams start and run through the whole ceremony it would be fine?

Yes, the breaks happen between clips, not during recording. So two cameras at a ceremony would be fine.
