I just purchased an HD7 last night to use with my JVC 100a and I just downloaded Steve Mullen's excellent handbook. But as the thread stated, can you go past the 4 GB SD cards? I would like to shoot smaller ratio projects with the HD7 as a "B" camera to cards and keep personal projects, and documentation type shoots on the hard drive for later edit/archive.

Well come to JVC GZHD7 world! Congratulation for your new buy! I am using GZHD7 almost one year but I never insert card in it! But yours is good question, I was wondering that in some circumstances if HDD get failure then what we will do? If we able to use higher capacity SDHC card like 32GB or etc then we would be fine!

And I am not sure how much it will cost to replace the HDD and how fast we can do?

My guess would be maybe. The HD7 will likely get a firmware upgrade with the next model to handle bigger capacity SD cards. Hard and flash drive storage appears to be the touted feature of the next wave of camera models. Hopefully the firmware upgrades will be backwards compatible to the current HD7's.

Why not take your HD7 to Radio Shack and try different sized cards. They must be the correct speed for video.
