I just got my camera back from Sony with the new firmware upgrade v1.05 and my backfocus is now correct.
By the way I had tried using the engineering menus backfocus adjustment both with and without ND previously and it did not fix my problem.

This is issue is major (though I don't know how widespread) and should probably be a recall. It should at least be a sticky on this forum just like the vignetting issue. Who's in charge of that?

Is there a user out there with the v1.05 firmware-upgrade but still experiences backfocus problems?

Very good news indeed, I just sent mine back. Firmware version was 1.02.
Where did you send it and what was the turnaround like? I sent mine to San Jose and I've been told 10 business days which seems a bit excessive.
