I want to get a baseplate to attach to my glidecam that will accept the quick release plate (manfrotto 3433PL) that came with my bogen 503 head. I can't seem to find any info about the realease plate's dimensions etc. Does anyone know where to find something that would work, or know of a cheap alternative?

Bogen (Manfrotto) QR577-I think it now has a NEW part number though and I can't think of it but I have always known it and ordered it as the QR577. The base and plate are the same as the 501/503 heads. Invaluable tools, I can't live without them.

I just bought one, Manfrotto MN-577,plate and reciever, works perfect with the plate from the 503hdv,it's exactly the same.

I have the original 503 not the hdv version but I'm assuming they use the same size plate.

I'm concerned that once I have it on the glidecam I won't be able to get it off due to the "handle" that loosens the baseplates grip on the release plate not being able to turn between the glidecam's stage below it and the camera's base above it.

I can't remember which one but I read that on one of these quick release assemblies the handle pulls out before you turn it such that it will clear it's obstacles first and turn freely. Does the 577 do that?

shouldn't be a problem. The NEW name is the "577 Quick Release Assembly" by Bogen and to release the plate simply turn the locking knob push in the release button and presto!
I use one on my monopod and my DVMultiRig and they both work just like they're supposed to. Plus they're only about $52.00 or so.
