Is there anyone out there who has both cameras comment on the picture quality between the older JVC and newer Everio series?
I have the older GR-HD1 and was looking to get second camera and wanted to know if they are comparable?

I have both and just did a mixed timeline to 1920x1080.
The HD1 has more chroma noise. The HD7 has more saturated colors so requires CC.
The OIS on the HD1 really works. And, being heavier, it is more stable.
The HD7 has very slightly more resolution. The HD1 is progressive!
Bottom-line -- if you have an HD1 and want to EASILY mix video, I'd get an another HD1. And, if you like 30p for a film look -- then the HD1 is the obvious choice.
If you plan to replace an HD1 -- then I'd go with the newer HD7.
PS: I planned on selling my HD1 on eBay last fall. Emotionally, I just haven't been able to do it yet. Giving-up progressive is hard to do!

Hmm.. too bad. I want to like the HD7, but seems like some hoops to jump through for transfer to FCP5 or FCP6. I have a HD-10 and a HD110. I'm doing 24p not exclusively. Maybe I'll just experiment more with my HD-10 in taking 30p to 24p. I wish there was a better choice for a back up auto everything danger cam to mate with my HD-110.
