I've been having problems in Vegas 8.0b with files from my Sanyo HD1000 which uses the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format. Clips under 2gig can be opened without incident, but clips over 2gig are not be recognized. This seems to be confirmed with some other Sanyo users in another forum. Does anyone know if this is a problem with all MP4 files or just the Sanyo files?

Just one of my "shoot from the lip" questions, but you don't have any associated file systems set up as Fat32 perchance? Anywhere in the food chain?

Just a thought.

The SD and SDHC cards the Sanyo is writing to are FAT32. But the file size limit for FAT32 is 4gig, not 2gig. Besides, other applications like Windows Media Player can read and play the clips without any problems. Vegas doesn't even recognize them as video clips. FWIW, I'm running Vegas under Windows Vista 64.

It's a problem with Sanyo files, not MP4 in general.

Thanks Spot! I figured that was the case, but I must admit I do find it odd that I can load and edit the files in cheap consumer editors like Cyberlink Powerdirector and Nero 8 without incident. I guess I'll just have use one of those programs to render these clips to a format that Vegas can read.
