Hello all,

Quick question: I am doing a shoot later today where I have to stream the HDV 1080p24 out of the EX 1 to my Macbook Pro and capture live using Final Cut Pro.

Does anyone know exactly what is coming out the firewire port when shooting in 1080p24 in the 25mbit mode? Is it 1080i60w/pulldown or is it real 1080p24? I need to know so I know what capture settings to use with Final Cut Pro, as it has both capture modes.

Many thanks!

Michael, it's 24PsF inside 60i with pull-down. I succesfully loaded the m2t's (recorded via i.LINK to my DR60 drive) into a Vegas 1080/60i project, and rendered out to 1080/23.976, with pull-down removal. Plays back like a marvell; in fact the EX1 SP codec is much better than what I got used to with the V1!

Great, so I guess I will need to capture standard 1080i60 HDV then and do a reverse telecine in post.

Thanks for the info!

I have not tried it as I've been practicing with progressive but if you go that route you can use DVRack/OnLocation via firewire of you like. This will allow you to see what the gammas are doing. May be a good way to go if you are in the studio.

The shoot when without a hitch ... just captured using the 1080i60 preset in Final Cut Pro. Thanks all.
