I completely disabled all gain settings on my camera. Gain is an artificial mean of increasing sensitivity to light by amplifying the electrical signal of the CCD. it always ends up with ugly noise. Some professional cameras like the XDCAM and F900 have even a -3db gain setting exactly to help you fight noise even more. David Allen Smith February 27th, 2008, 03:44 PM Thanks Paolo. Jeffrey Butler February 27th, 2008, 10:05 PM I run with it off as well. I figure anything the boost in db will get me, I can find later in post. That's only partially true, but I really don't care for the grainy gain...and can usually avoid it with shutter settings anyway. |
