I was wandering if this type of adapter would work with the SxS cards in a PowerBook G4 1G:

I want it only to copy the data from the cards while on location on a external firewire drive.

I don't believe so as it can only be used for ExpressCards that implement the USB interface. The SxS cards use the PCIe interface. AFAIK, you would need the Sony external adapeter.
