Hi everyone!
I'm considering to shoot a music video with the hvx200e using a fs-100 for recording (because we can borrow these two for free, so it's the perfect choice ;)).
I've done a test shoot last week, and got to know the workflow with the fs-100 and fcp. i'm "capturing" the p2 files via the "log and transfer..." option in fcp. my question here is, if all data required is taken by fcp, so i can disconnect it directly afterwards and continue shooting, or does fcp still need the fs-100 to be connected?
(i know, i could have tried that myself, but to be honest, i didn't think of that at that moment, mostly because it was not necessary to record such an amount of footage. but at the video shoot i'll have to clear the fs at least 4-5 times...)

I hope i made my problem as clear as possible.

thanks,
Philipp Buchinger

Heres what I am doing. Shoot>copy files to mirrored raid>Verify file integrity via FCP log and transfer (make sure all the clips show up - transfer one across) >format FS. I then use the raid source to log and transfer.

Even if you dont have somekind of raid, youd be better of using this method, simply copying the files first onto another HDD.

that is indeed an option i haven't considered yet. sounds good.
thank you very much,

If you are using FCP exclusively you can save a ton of time and shoot straight to QTs on the FS. The whole import/capture thing on FCP is a quantum waste of time and resources.
