Has anyone figured out a better way to connect the DR-HD100 to these cams than by using the firewire supplied with Firestore? With hot connect/disconnect being such a vital issue I find myself wishing the firewire that connects to the camera did NOT stick straight out of the camera with a slowly bending wire just waiting for me to knock out accidentally. Can you get these wires made up? I would LOVE one taking an immediate 90 degree turn aimed straight back to the hard drive.

That's helpful. Thanks. I have the mounting worked out using the Anton Bauer mount. I just hate the firewire sticking out is all. So you "made" that Firewire connector? I'm so paranoid about frying the circuit board I'm scared to break out the "duct tape." Although I have to admit, duct tape has held bikes together underneath me at some pretty ridiculous speeds before...

There are a variety of cables with different angled set ups and lengths are available here http://www.usbfirewire.com/firewire.html
I use the type that angles the cable directly towards the rear of camera, protrusion from the side of the camera then is minimal.

Exactly what I needed. Thank you Phil. I'm looking to aim rearward as well.
