Just shot some timelapse footage @ 1080 24p on 8GB SxS card. When trying to view the clip in the Sony XDCam Transfer software on my MBP, it reports the following message:

"Error - There is no timecode calculator in timecode track builder"

The software doesn't display a preview and of course I cannot import the clip. This isn't cool considering the many concerns with tapeless media.

I was however able to play the stored .mp4 file with VLC (direct off the card in fact).

I really would like to use this clip. I do not know any other way to import the stored .mp4 clip (tried extracting with MpegStreamclip and converting with Compressor).

Does anyone have any idea what may be happening.

What are you editing on?

I'm editing on a Macbook Pro.

My usual procedure when finished shooting is to ...

1. insert card into express card slot of Macbook Pro
2. After card is mounted I copy the entire BPAV folder to the internal drive
3. Start XDCAM Transfer, add the directory to the source list
4. Review clips after XDCAM creates previews.

The error was reported during this timelapsed clip's preview creation. No preview was created. There isn't any meta data (clip, timing, video, audio, identification) displayed either.

This same happens when directly accessing the card via XDCAM Transfer as well.

I've shot other timelapsed clips (1080 30p) before with no issues.

Strange that VLC can play back the clip (off card and off internal hard drive).

I'm not sure what the issue is. Any thoughts would be helpful.

had the same problem after changing the timecode to "clock" ...
I did a complete reset of the camera, didn't touch the timecode setting anymore and now everything works just fine. I left it no to "preset".
Of course this can't be a solution, because I would love to use the feature "clock = timecode"

I too shoot most footage with TC set to "clock". I was thinking it might have something to do with this setting. However, the clip plays back fine in the camera (media mode). So I wouldn't think this to be an issue in the transfer software. I will test this again later.

I'm a bit peeved, as I have a good clip that I cannot use for editing. Perhaps Sony needs to address this in an update.

Did you recover your clips somehow or chuck them?
