I am making a documetary about a veteran railway. When filming "Driver´s Eye View" I have problems with shock vibrations from the trail joints. Other problems from the old and rough track I can master but not the very transition like "mechanical spikes" from the joints. Does anybody have suggestion for a cure. Camera is Canon XH A1 in HD mode.

What's the final output? HD or SD? If you're going to downres to SD you might consider stabilising the footage in post using After Effects or another similar programme.

The final format is HD and I am currently using ProDad Mercali HD stabilizer but it is not efficient at these very short spikes. I am testing soft rubber boards under the tripod legs right now but it is not quite as good as I would like it.

The best I can come up with is some sort of rubber bungy arrangement attached to the train cab roof (to form a "V" )and the other ends attached to the tripod receiver.

If you actually fold the tripod up and allow it to float on the bungy straps the mass of tripod and camera can't possibly react to fast spikes.

The tripod sticking straight down from the straps will act as a "left/ right rotation" stabiliser.

It won't be quite as stable side to side but it should add a bit of realism.
