This is real important and interesting so I hope I can explain it right. Just did some test shots - indoor with lights - still life stuff, using the High Sat matrix with Cine4. Remember with HDV you could never get the black deep enough and you always ended up in post doing that infamous "S" curve on levels? Well I got blacks at -10 and needed to do a REVERSE "S" curve to see any details in my blacks. What this means and what tinkering I need do I don't know yet - not enough experience - but it sure is interesting. Blew my mind when I looked at the Vector-scope and saw a dynamic range like I never ever seen before. Instead of trying to maximize dynamic range I was needing to shrink it! I'm really mind blown (or gob smacked if you are on the left side of the pond)..... Any comments welcome.
