I'm recording HDV to DV tape. I picked up some Panasonic tapes in bulk, DVM60 for recording in my HV20. I'm having tons of problems with dropped frames - problems I didn't have with the cheap TDKs from Costco (I know, I know, never change tape brands, but I've been cleaning before changing tape brands, cleaning every 15 tapes, and sticking with the Pannies for months.)

I'd like to switch back to the TDKs, and will.

In the meantime, you might want to avoid the Panasonic DVM60 MiniDV tapes for HDV work. Bad juju.

If you're talking about the AY-DVM60EJ... I believe those are the absolute least expensive tapes in their tape product line. You get what you pay for ;-)

*nods*

*sigh*

Oh well. As I said. A good cleaning, and move to the TDKs. I'll save the Panies for DV video work (though I may spring for an Canon ZR800 to do it with.)

I just loaded up a TDK after a thorough head cleaning, and pointed it at the TV for 60 minutes. I'll let you guys know if that makes a difference.
