Hi all,
I will be traveling to Mali, Africa to shoot music videos and b-roll for a doc for 2010. I will be using 2 Canon XH-A1's and 2 Sony V1U's. My original plan was to shoot 24f on the Canon's and 24p on the Sony's and remove the pulldown from the Sony's to work on a 23.98 timeline in FCP 6.0.2. I have learned that shooting 24f is not as easy as shooting ye' old regular DV 29.97 due to pulldown issues and, time code breaks and stutters on faster pans with various shutter speeds.
Should I just shoot everything in 30f or 60i to make things easy? I don't plan on going to film, but I do plan on going for possible broadcast and dvd. I do know that one advantage to 30f or 60i is good slow motion options for fast drumming and dance ceremonies. Should I shoot all 60i across the board if I decide on frame rate? I guess I don't know if 30f and 30p will mix well on the timeline. Anyone have a good workflow for a V1u and an XH-A1?
Thanks, Larry
