Hello all
I would like to make a DVD of the upcoming Super Bowl and then send this DVD where my friend is so he can play it on his TV. I have a HD Satellite that I receive my signal, a I was thinking of using a DVD recorder to record the game. I am worried that a DVD recorder will not allow a different country code for Germany. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can tell him to play the DVD on his computer.
If he doesn’t have a computer, you can use an authoring program to make a DVD compatible with his region.
If he has a PS3, you can put the video files on a Data DVD and just remember to change the extension to .mpeg. You don’t use an authoring program this way. This allows the PS3 to play any region.

I convert my home movies from NTSC (North America) to PAL (most of Europe including GERMANY), burn a DVD and send them to my family who live in a PAL-land. My family has no problems viewing it with their DVD-player. I import my clips into iMovie (Mac), edit, then export as DV-PAL. Then, I import this file into iDVD (which is set to PAL in preferences menu) and burn a DVD.
If you don't have a Mac, I am sure windows has equivalent software to do a similar conversion. Otherwise, you can have it done at a video conversion service which you can find online (search google or e-bay). They don't charge much, as far a I remember $10-20 an hour.

people in europe do not care about DVD zone or video standard, since most devices are either dezoned or multistandard capable.
