The Under Water, Over Land Challenge is the planet's premiere nature and outdoors video production contest. A unique opportunity for documentarians, planet Earth-lovers, extreme sports enthusiasts, bird-watchers, sea-dwellers, and all aspiring outdoor film makers to join a community of like minded people, swap stories, learn skills, win prizes and maybe get an exclusive place in the winners circle.

Get more info and view all of our players' films at our website: The UWOL Challenge - Wildlife & Outdoor based film competition (http://209.20.76.210/)

TIL that the UWOL challenge is an underwater casino development project in Malaysia.

Thanks for catching that, Finn. The URL worked back in the day when I originally made that post!

That particular domain name was lost unfortunately, because I did not have control of it -- someone else registered it, and then let it go. The site is still available, though, and I have corrected the link in my post above. More info about the lost domain name here: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/uwol-challenge-our-newest-contest/518617-original-uwol-challenge-site-archive-now-available.html

Is the UWOL Challenge Website still being actively used? Looks like it hasn't been updated since winner #20 was announced back in 2011.

Well it's not being used for current content, no. But it's online. Think of it as a museum.

We're currently using Vimeo Pro for video clip hosting.

UWOL Challenge is also on facebook. I update there whenever I post anything new here.
But DVInfo will always be the main source for information.

Excellent to know, thanks guys! I'm wondering if it would be wise to put a post on the page to direct visitors to the Vimeo and Facebook pages? Unwitting visitors to the UWOL site may not know this information and think that UWOL has been disbanded since there are no updates for over 2 years now.

I'll look into it, Ralph.
Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Ralph - there won't be any unwitting visitors to the old UWOL site, since it is really not searchable, has no unique domain name anymore, and exists only as an archive. It's still kind of nice to be able to access the original films all in one place, and the domain name has expired, so I don't think there's really too much to worry about, in terms of confusing new players.

Everything has been migrated to Vimeo, since 2011.

Trond, you may want to consider crafting a new "rules" sticky which clarifies how to play the game. That hasn't been done in awhile. Something we can stick to the top of the forum so new players can refer to it. You can include the "museum" link and state that it dates back to 2011 and it's for archival purposes only. That should clear things up.

That will be done! :)
