View Full Version : UWOL #7 Sign-Up Thread...A New Year Begins!
Meryem Ersoz January 24th, 2008, 03:59 PM all right, then. let's get this party started! first, i'd ask that you all read the updated rules at our new website. we will have a rules sticky posted here at DVinfo shortly (at last!) as well.
http://www.uwolchallenge.com/contest_rules.htm
there's a few changes, the biggest being #7 naming convention...READ RULE #7 CAREFULLY!
note that your sign-up number in this thread will be included in your file name...
so my file name, since i am the #1 on this thread will look like this:
1_UC7_whatageniustheme.mov
we are not using your initials any more. that way, if steve siegel and steven soderbergh both sign up for the Challenge, (both SS), we eliminate the possibility of duplicate file names.
--------------------
Here we go:
1) sign-up here - this states your intention to complete the Challenge round
2) send an e-mail to uwol@comcast.net if you are a) new to the Challenge or b) have changed your e-mail since you last participated
and
3) the t-shirts are done and the first mailing will go out this week, more on that later, but we will have a similar, to-be-determined free treat for every player who completes all six Challenge rounds this year. I'll announce the premium when I announce the theme on Feb. 1
---------------------
Dates:
Sign-up: January 24-January 31
Theme Announcement: February 1
Deadline: February 22, Midnight anywhere in the world!
Meryem Ersoz January 24th, 2008, 04:02 PM here is a .jpg which shows you where to look for your assigned number....

You would think we're all ready to jump in wouldn't you say? Okay then, count me out... too many people, too much talent.... HA! JUST KIDDING! Count me in for sure.
Brian, have you been able to step outside yet? Perhaps this first challenge you could simply submit 3 minutes of a white screen and the wind howling.... but I hope not! Hope you are surviving the elements up there!
Now, what could this first theme be?
Cat
Andrew K. Setter January 25th, 2008, 01:57 PM Now, what could this first theme be?

Trond Saetre January 26th, 2008, 07:12 AM I don't truly understand this contest,...
Michael, and to all the newcomers, it's very nice to have you with us. Welcome to the uwol friendship!
We are a bunch of people in addition to Meryem who can answer any questions you might have.
The most important is to get out in the nature, and follow rule #11, "Have fun"!
Dale Guthormsen January 26th, 2008, 07:43 AM Good Morning,
I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO # 7.
I AM GOING TO BE A CONFORMIST AND EVEN GET THE NAMING CONVENTION RIGHT THIS TIME!!!
i HAVE A FEW IDEAS IN MIND, NOW JUST HOPE i CAN FIT THEM TO THE THEME!!!
I AM IN!!!
Meryem Ersoz January 26th, 2008, 09:33 AM We are a bunch of people in addition to Meryem
..."in addition to Meryem",
--who only masqerades as a person but is actually an alien life form from planet Q in a distant galaxy far away, sent to planet E to test the players with bizarre theme ideas and study their responses--
Michael, check the first paragraph on our website: www.uwolchallenge.com--that should help a little...
we conceived this as a "nature and outdoors" contest and then learned that even our core concept can have a very broad, unanticipated interpretation (right, Steven? our Disney World shooter-in-residence...).
"Our world, your vision".....from anywhere and everywhere on the planet.
Mike Blumberg January 26th, 2008, 10:02 AM Count me in.
I will get this one completed
Steven Gotz January 26th, 2008, 03:47 PM ..."right, Steven? our Disney World shooter-in-residence..."
I imagine I stretch the concept about as far as it can be stretched. You bet. My idea of the "Great Outdoors" is probably pretty warped, but they treat me nice around here anyway! ;-)
Michael Wisniewski January 26th, 2008, 04:22 PM My idea of the "Great Outdoors" is probably pretty warped, but they treat me nice around here anyway! ;-) Well I'm glad you're around Steven, seeing as how I'm going to be shooting all that "outdoor wildlife" here in Central Park in the middle of February. Technically I call the following photo a "canyon", but let me tell you, being a native Californian, it probably hurts me more than it hurts you.
Chris Barcellos January 26th, 2008, 05:37 PM Here, present and ready to go
Moayad Hassan January 27th, 2008, 01:10 AM This is so exciting :)
