Here is some footage I shot on our factory floor.

http://204.10.35.7/mt/BigRotator.m4v

File size is 310MB.

The entire clip was shot 1080p24HQ, handheld, full manual (focus, iris). 1/48 shutter and 3db of gain was used. Color Matrix HighSat, cine4 gamma curve. Typical aperture was 1.9 to 2.8. No post process color correction or adjustments were made, this is as shot. I shot about an hour of footage total. No additional lighting was used.
The clip is about 8 1/2 minutes long, edited in FCP, compressed to 1280 x 720 using compressor H.264 for Apple TV setting.

I own two Canon XH-A1's, a HV10 and have owned a Sony HDR-FX1 and this camera is definitely a step above. There is no way with the Canon one can manually focus as well as the EX1 without an external monitor. While I do miss the 20x zoom on the Canon while shooting football, the low light, shallow depth of field, color rendition, lack of CA, frame rates, etc. places the EX1 a step above. Also, this camera suffers from the vignetting problem and will be sent in to have fixed, although in most circumstances one doesn't notice.

Thanks John.
There's no doubt the EX1 really produces beautiful images.

I'm glad you chose 24P here. This also shows how great 24P motion holds.

John,
others have posted that the lcd screen on the EX1 is enough
for critical focus, but it sounds like you are disagreeing...

would you please elaborate...

Thanks,
Lonnie

Sorry for the misunderstanding. My Canon XH-A1's is what I was referring to about the difficulty to focus. The EX1 is outstanding in this regard in my opinion. I especially like the depth of field indicator.
