I love everythig of this picture except just one.
The sun looks like a star...
Maybe I guess this is related to the shape of the iris.
Is this common in this price range camcorder models?

Perhaps a jpeg next time would ease the lownload.
Your picture shows rather an unusual sun. Of course it's greatly over-exposed which doesn't help matters, but the points are as you suspect caused by the six-bladed iris. The look of these points will depend on focal length, aperture and exposure, and doesn't really have much to do with the camcorder model. Of course CCDs would have probably given you the dreadful vertical smear on top of the points, so you're one step ahead already.

Tom, Thanks for your valuable information. And I replaced .bmp to .jpg. Thanks again.

looks to me like lens flare. perhaps its lens flare that just looks unusual because the bright source is being shot straight on? of you pan way, do any of the hexagons move? i believe lens flare like that is usually affected by the shape of the aperture in that way, so the shape would make sense. thats my guess

I actually like the star in the sun look. It looks like the Star of Bethlehem.

I watched HDTV broadcasting today, and there are so many clips with the star-shaped sun, much worse than mine. Thanks guys!
