Great bit of patient tracking and use of mobile hide. In the end they had to wait for winter in Pakistan's vast mountain wilderness to get family footage. Fighting among wild ibex (?) was as hair-raising as watching leopard leaping up vertical rock faces. I saw climbing skills I have not seen from any other cats. Involvement of local tribespeople was sensitively done.

Sorry Kevin didn’t know it was UK only, as for a little compensation here is the first video ever taken of the Snow Leopards.

One of the best wildlife programmes I have watch in a long time. For info of those who missed it and can receive BBC2 it is being repeated this Sunday at 4.55hrs.

can anyone guess the equipment they used, especially the A CAM. at some scenes I see the front of the lens but I couldnt decide. may it be 2:3 inch ? but which one ?

As far as I could see from the film the main camera was a Panansonic DVCPRO HD coupled I believe to a canon lens, but the exact camera model I am not sure

Looks alot like footage from the series Planet Earth, at least from what I can see on the BBC cover page. I have the Planet Earth boxed set and many if not all of the filmmakers were BBC folks. They discuss their methods at the end of each section.

IIRC, the segment on the snow leopard showed the cameraman inside a stone hut shooting a film camera. Looked like he was about a 1/4 away from the action.

as far as I know planet earth was shot with panasonic varicams ? at left there is behind the camera links but doesn't say about the cam. though, at that link in the photo, there is a canon xl series-xl1 or 2 with a tele lens attached.

To my knowledge and observation (I have the book), Planet Earth was shot with a variety of formats, DVCPro HD, film, SD (cant recall whether I saw a PD150 or 170) and the Great White out of the water was shot with a Cine Speedcam.
