Earlier this evening some fellow decided to drive into a nearby electricity pole and leave us without power. So we paid an unexpected trip to the cinema to watch Charlie Wilson's War.

The previews/commercials etc were their usual waste of time except that, for the first time that I have seen, they were all video projections. Moreover, they all seemed to have been shot interlaced but were being projected non-interlaced.

The resolution was very good but the scan lines were visible and the interlacing artifacts very obvious.

I'm curious as to the resolution and format of the video. Does anyone know?

Ah, then the problem is more widespread than I thought. The ad agency used by our local theater makes the same amateur blunder: projecting interlaced video on Christie 2k projectors.

Unfortunately that has been in practice for a while, But with 4k projectors improving, the quality should improve, when they update. saw some really convincing 4ks at INFOCOMM earlier this year.
