What do you FT guys do in the off season? I'm looking at a batch of web design projects and destination weddings.

What's an "off season"? I worked until 2 ayem for two weeks before Xmas .. took off two days .. have four new projects and four projects to be finished to DVD sitting on the edit desk.

But you *did* have time to post that message. ;o)

Summer is my real 'off' season, but I've been vacationing in Washington while working just as hard as I usually work.

Dana,
I'm new to this whole full time wedding videographer thing, so you might have to explain a few things to me.
When you refer to an "off season", are these just your typical slow months that are slow every year and you've come to anticipate that, or do you actually set aside a month or so where you wont take any weddings if you don't need to? I ask because I don't know. I've been full time at this for all of 6 months.

There is no real off season. I may not have weddings booked until February but I still have 3 seminars, a training video and a little time off to get in there before the weddings start again.
I schedule my time off for the slower time of the year but can't really say there's a 'season' just busier times than others.

Edit, develop my skills, and take more time off.

Like Patrick, I'll be editing mostly. Hopefully still shooting non-wedding projects here and there for variety. Dreaming about buying the EX1 and a Steadicam Pilot...

Oh, and shooting a Viagra commercial, (from the other side of the camera) hehe.
