I edited a video burned on DVD a while ago. Some time has gone by and the original files are gone, yet people are requesting a few changes to the video. The only source I have is the DVD I burned. What is the best method of capturing from the DVD source, than rendering it again without losing that much quality?

Vegas will work with the VOB files from the DVD. No need to capture the footage or rencode.

Or use the File - Import - DVD Camcorder Disc function.
It works on full-sized discs too.

Just so you know, it does not work on copy protected discs though, so you're not going to be able to pull a clip from a hollywood movie this way. But it should work great for a disc you burned though.
