I used a DR HD100 the other day and after copying the files over to my computer I noticed many clips that I filmed had a jump or stutter in them. I've used these cameras (HD100) since the day that they came out and I understand that there can be some stuttering/flickering on occasion when panning maybe a little too fast but when I play from the tape, there is no problem. Has anyone else had this problem? I did have the retro cache set to 7 seconds, I have since set it to normal recording in case this is the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the jump/stutter random? Are you playing it in your NLE? From the Firestore? There are many answers to your issues in the Firestore Forums...

PLaying from NLE and firestore. THe tape is fine. Happened about 10% of the time. I couldn't find the answer in the other forum, sorry.

wow, and I was just considering a firestore because I had
a dropout occur for the first time in months during a critical
interview that was taped.
I thought the firestore recording guaranteed no dropouts or glitches whatsoever.

Brian, is there anyway you could put a clip online? 480x270 would suffice. Just so we could see?

is a life saver, but not infalliable.
If your not careful with the firewire it's self, if you knock it or brush it, you can momentarily break the connection and get gaps in your recording. But used in conjunction with the tape its a good backup. one covers the other

I'm surprised the didn't produce a hardwired option like they did with the JVC DV5100's. It just slid into a slot in front of the battery bucket. No wires.

That's what i have been b!+(hing about too - the FS-3 was such a great drive, what the hell happened with the fs-4? Although they work okay, they're way too clunky and cumbersome. Hard to mount, firewire problems, etc. The DV5000's and 5100's were great and they need to go back to a similar format.
