According to the DVC website (http://thedvchallenge.blogspot.com/search/label/*%20How%20It%20Works), yes, you did that correctly. Assuming, of course, you included your name and the title of your film in the subject line of the email, and your name, film title, and Youtube link in the body.

Basically:
1) Upload your film to Youtube.
2) Email me the link and the following info to thedvchallenge@gmail.com
Your Name
"Title Of Film"
www.youtube.com/linktoyourmovie
