Just downloaded some quicktime and m2t files to my desktop and I
don't know how to open them. All this video stuff is really hard for
an old man to learn. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Charles Dodd

google "ffdshow". download it and install it. That should allow you to play the m2t files.

Thanks so much for your quick reply and concern. I have Final Cut Express
and iMovie 08. If I had the knowledge would these programs open the
clips?

Which Firestore do you have? Some of them can capture directly as quicktime format which can be used in Final Cut. If yours can only capture in M2T, you will have to convert the file in Compressor or another program to be able to edit in FCP. (You need an MOV file for FCP)
There is a chance that your Firestore just needs a firmware update to be able to do this.

It is a FSC 60gig with the latest update. I am able to record
in M2t and Quicktime modes in HD. The downloaded clips are
Quicktime and m2t. Once last night in Quicktime when I clicked
the quicktime files I got a pop-up window stating that I need a
add-on for Quicktime to open file. I have the latest QT. Thanks.
