I shoot a lot of sports video as well as some weddings. I have been wanting to get hooked up with HVX200, but it is too expensive at this point in time. Im now looking at the panasonic dvx100b, the canon xl-2, or possibly a canon xlh1 hdv. Who knows about these well enough to say which would be the best?

I have a Canon H1, A1 and HV10. If money is an issue, go with thew A1. It's an amazing piece of equipement. Don't even consider the dvx, unless you want sd only.

I'd avoid HDV of any kind if you're sensitive to artifacts.
More and more I'm starting to see artifacts caused by the HDV compression and it's making me want to move away from it... fast... :)
I agree though, HD is the way to go, HDV is good if you're doing still-shots with low movement though.
